The cast and crew of "True Crime With Aphrodite Jones" were in town recently performing research and conducting interviews for an episode of the investigative reporting show's second season.
The focus of the episode will be the 1993 murders of three West Memphis boys and subsequent arrests and convictions of Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, often referred to as the "West Memphis Three."
Originally considering a public forum on the case, producers for the show, which airs on the Investigation Discovery Network (ID), instead opted to contact individuals in the area connected to or familiar with the case in an effort to "fairly represent both sides" of the case.
Aphrodite Jones, the show's host and author of several nonfiction crime-related books, made several stops as part of the filming, including the West Memphis Police Department. The production crew also rented out Eagle Lanes Bowling Alley and set up an interview area. The show traveled to Little Rock to interview Mara Leveritt, author of "Devil's Knot," a 2002 book about the case.
